Been Thinkin....

Hey, it's been what seems like a dog's age. So here I am to update ya.

It's December and, in a few weeks I'm headed off to see my boy B. I am so excited!

But right now, all I can think about is the endless array of crap I gotta do before I get there.

I am teaching, finishing final projects for my classes, publishing my school's first newsletter for students, and teaching computer classes once a week for the parents and teachers at my school. The school will have their monthly awards night before I leave. My students have to have a holiday pizza party before I leave.

Oh, and did I mention that I haven't packed yet? Oy.

But somehow, I will get it all done. I always manage to get all kinds of things like this done. I thrive in the midst of craziness.

Yesterday was my 29th birthday. So that was a cool reason for many of my friends and family to catch up with me. I felt all special.

Believe it or not, I'm also starting to think and plan for the new year. Actually, if you know anything about me, you know that I've got a plan for the next several years. I like to be prepared like that.

I was just taking a quick look at my resolutions from last year. While some were wildly extreme and unreachable, I reached a lot of them. I can really see where I grew from this time last year. I managed to travel this year. I got a wardrobe (for the summer at least). I treated myself to pampering time periodically.

Okay, so they weren't all hits. There were definitely some misses. I'm just thankful to be here for another year, so's I can keep trying to get there, y'know?

I can't wait until the new year begins. People always say, "Why do folks wait until the 1st of the year to do stuff?" I've been thinking about this, too. I can't speak for "folks," but I know that for me, January 1st represents a sort of fresh start...a chance to start over in a way. I look at it as my chance to put the year that just passed behind me, good or bad events notwithstanding.

The feeling of renewal is powerful and can do wonders for the spirit. However, it seems that endurance, follow-through and staying focused are the areas where we most need work. :)

For me, this will be another year of renewal, and I love it. I'm really digging the fact that I have some positive things happening now that I can build on.

Be back soon....going to add to my vacation checklist....
